Trade Shows

Posted by admin on October 7th, 2008

Trade shows are a very interesting thing to me.  If you haven’t been to one it is a sight you should see. Basically, you have a room filled with vendors of all sorts carrying their wares for sale.  I have been to some in the medical, banking, and now pet industry and they are all pretty much the same.  Many vendors hire “celebrities” to be in their booths to promote what it is that they are selling, others invite you to take advantage of specials only good for those days, and still others hire models to get your attention.

I like these shows for small periods of time because they give you a chance to interact with many vendors all in one place very quickly.  I don’t like these shows because I think that they favor the big guys with big budgets and the flashier one’s setup is the more people they will attract; even though it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are promoting healthful products.

I guess my dog’s were the big winners in all of this as Sushi and Espy got to enjoy all of the free samples I was able to pick up!

Dog Stairs

Posted by admin on October 2nd, 2008

After much debate in our house we decided to take the plunge and buy a set of “dog stairs” for the boys. Both dogs sleep with us in bed (don’t know how good of an idea this is) but we still do it.  In the middle of the night for whatever reason without fail Sushi or Espy get up to get water, find a new chew, or just explore and end up jumping off of the bed.  Espy doesn’t really have a hard time getting back up, but Sushi does and after some scratching on the side of our fancy bed, it requires one of us to wake up and physically putting him back in bed.  This gets old after a while, especially since he jumps off of the bed sometimes in multiple cases during the night.

We decided we had to purchase some stairs so we started to look around and of all places we found the least expensive set at Walgreen’s ?!  Who knew that the pharmacy chain would have a great set of dog stairs for only $10.  The next closest thing that we could find was $30-40 at Petsmart or Petco…..

This is one of the best purchases we have made for the boys in a long time, although we are still trying to get them used to them.  We think it helps with their knees/joints and it keeps us asleep….

Weekend Play Dates

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2008

Sushi and Espy had two friends over this weekend, which is a lot for them especially Sushi!  Our first play date was with Sushi and Benny (a Shih tzu) who we consider to be his best friend.  You can see both of them sharing a bully stick here:

The two of these guys go wild when they are together, chasing each other, playing with bones, rolling around, and just being buds.  When we mention Benny’s name, Sushi gets very excited and waits by the door until his friends arrival.  We have to make sure to not mention Benny’s name too early or Sushi gets bummed out.  Benny is the perfect size for Sushi and is a perfect match in terms of energy level.  The only disadvantage is that typically Benny requires a good grooming afterwards.

Our second play date was with Ladybug who is a medium sized boxer.  Even though she is much bigger than Sushi, she is gentle and just likes to run around with him.  The two of them are really funny to watch together because Ladybug is so much taller and quicker, but Sushi tries his best to keep up!

Now that it is Sunday night everyone, especially Sushi is going to bed early and trying to recover from a fun and eventful weekend……

Espy on the other hand, is a lap dog and likes to observe the action from the highest point possible.
